WHEN TO GO

The Australian climate varies widely due to its large geographical size.

The northern part of Australia has a tropical climate with high temperatures, high humidity and a wet and dry season. The wet season lasts about six months from November to March with temperatures between 30C and 50C. The dry season also lasts around six months from April to October with more pleasant temperatures around 20C.

The four seasons (Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring) are apparent in the Temperate Zone, which occupies most of New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and some of South Australia and Western Australia, as well as the Desert and Grassland zones.

  • Summer: December to February
  • Autumn: March to May
  • Winter: June to August
  • Spring: September to November
