Amanwana is a secluded wilderness resort located on Moyo Island, a private nature reserve to the east of Bali. Surrounded by tropical jungle and the turquoise waters of the Flores Sea, Amanwana is the only resort on the island. With a name that means ‘peaceful forest’, this unspoilt hideaway is a paradise for nature lovers. You’ll often spot deer, macaque monkeys and wild boar, and the protected seas are home to colourful fish and pristine reefs. The resort’s two yachts give opportunity to explore neighbouring islands while the open-air wellness sanctuary offers an array of blissful treatments. Owing to its remote location, the resort forms the ideal spot to host a luxury group retreat. Pure relaxation or exciting adventure, Amanwana will leave you spoilt for choice.
Amanwana’s restaurant, overlooking the Flores Sea and Sumbawa mountains, serves delicious and fresh cuisine, mostly made with locally sourced ingredients. The resort has its own garden, producing fruit, vegetables and herbs for daily meals. There is no gym on the island, but the countless land and water based activities means you won’t miss having one. Soothe your muscles with a massage after your hiking adventure or take a dip in the freshwater pool.
With a spectacular setting and just 20 tented suites, your island group retreat is guaranteed to be a peaceful experience. Being surrounded by the natural wonders of Moyo Island, any stress will melt away as soon as you arrive. Host yoga sessions in the jungle, meditation practices on the beach or book healing spa treatments by the sea. Spend your afternoon at the Music Pavilion, a tranquil forest sanctuary, where you can connect with your group, and have a picnic lunch or sundowners.
Amanwana is a low-impact island retreat with great respect for local communities and its habitat. To protect and enrich the resort’s natural setting and provide support to local communities, the Moyo Conservation Fund was set up in 2008. Coral restoration programs, rescuing turtles and building schools are examples of some of Amanwana’s initiatives and projects. Many staff are employed from local villages and every effort goes into creating and sustaining harmony between the people of Moyo Island and the environment.
