Named after ‘Barays’, large man-made reservoirs created by the Khmers to channel irrigated water for daily use, believed to be the life arteries of the empire, and a source of life, well-being and healing. Renowned Thai architect Khun Lek Bunnag was first inspired upon visiting the Baton Temple in Cambodia’s Angkor, and later designed The Barai with this in mind. The themes of life, well-being and healing are continued through the packages offered to guests today, as well as through the charitable assistance of underprivileged local communities and children. Whether through fundraising, building a much-needed flood spillway, or donations of books, toys and food, The Barai ensures that they give both money and time wisely.
The original meaning of spa is “healing by water”, a description that plays a significant role in The Barai experience. Surrounded by water, the spa offers a stay built around emphasising this essential element which symbolises the source of life, a place to rejuvenate, and to heal.
A well balanced lifestyle is paramount to achieving the full Barai Spa experience. A number of sessions can be arranged especially for each guest, including Fitness & Yoga, Healthy Lifestyle Consultations, Body Composition Analysis, Skin & Body Treatments and Recreational Activities.
To further soothe the mind and body, there are also Tai Chi, Thai Boxing, Stretching, Garland-making classes and ‘not to be missed’ cooking classes, along with guided or unguided Cultural Excursions to the floating market, local temples, a pineapple farm, night market or fishing tour.

Hua Hin is a seaside resort on the Gulf of Thailand, in the southern Thai province of Prachuap Khiri Khan. It used to be a tranquil fishing village, but has grown into a popular escape for Bangkok residents.
Hua Hin Beach, popular for kite-surfing and other water sports, is the main stretch of sand, lined with high-end hotels and seafood shacks.
Hua Hin has a tropical climate with high humidity and occasional rain. It is typically pleasant however, and can be enjoyed all year round. The best time of the year to visit Hua Hin is generally in the cool season from November to February, but for those who like it warmer, the hot season is from March to May, with temperatures reaching into the higher 30s.
The rainy season (though it doesn’t rain every day) is from June to October, with September being the rainiest of all. For those who don’t appreciate rain, be advised that the rain in Thailand doesn’t usually drizzle for long periods of time, instead coming in short sharp bursts.
